VARA is a leading player in responding to disasters wherever they occur around the country. VARA, through its links with the International Donors plays a major role in that response.
Emergency water and sanitation
VARA provides technical assistance in emergency water and sanitation to countries affected by disaster. This includes sending water and sanitation specialists, equipment, and conducting training in preparation for emergency response.
Emergency shelter
VARA provides technical assistance in emergency shelter to countries affected by disaster. This includes sending shelter specialists, shelter materials, conducting training in preparation for emergency response, and participating in shelter coordination forums.
Health and nutrition
VARA provides technical assistance in emergency health and nutrition to the provinces affected by disaster. This includes sending health and nutrition specialists, and conducting training in preparation for emergency response.
Relief supplies
During disaster, VARA is always ready to provide support relief supplies.
VARA has implemented the below activities under the emergency relief:
- Rapid survey of the flood and earthquake victims in coordination with natural disaster department and donor agencies
- Distribution of food and non-food materials including tents
- Transport resettlement of victims to the safe areas provided by the government
